Heidi was born into beauty. Her father was an executive at a cosmetic
company and her mother was a beautician in Bergisch Gladbach, a city
found outside of Cologne. In 1992, a friend talked her into entering a
national modeling contest in which she won a modeling contract and
$300,000 in American dollars. From there, she began to grace the
magazines of high profile fashion such as, Elle, Vogue, and Marie
Claire, just to name a few. Heidi is another model that shot to fame on
the cover of Sports Illustrated. Her work as a Victoria Secret Angel
cemented her reputation as an international supermodel.
When it comes to endorsements, what has Heidi not done? From
McDonalds to Liz Claiborne, she is currently endorsing the fashion line
Jordache and Volkswagen. Her recent commercial for her favorite yogurt
was a reminder of how quickly Heidi bounces back from childbirth, and
may be just a hint of how she does it! Her acting ability has not gone
unnoticed. From guest spots on Sex and the City to Spin City, her funny
bone has been allowed to shine. Heidi is still working as a supermodel
and is signed with IMG Models.
Project Runway, in which she hosts, judges, and produces, has succeeded
her wildest dreams for the reality show. Nominated 3 times for an Emmy,
the show has recently begun to launch its own fashion line. In 2008, the
show received a Peabody Award.
Heidi is married to the singer Seal and they have 4 children.
